Who tends continually "up" to expect sooner or later to be overcome by vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? But then why do we take a viewpoint on the vertigo also provided with a secure banister? The vertigo is something other than fear of falling. The vertigo is the voice of the emptiness below us which attracts us, attracts us is the desire to fall, from which we defend ourselves with fear.
